Jennifer Lopez doesn’t have to do much to make hers look great
but, if you’re like most people, a lot of hard work goes into a nice looking rear view.
HealthyOntario ("HO") talks to fitness consultant Javier Preciado ("JP") to find out what it takes to get great gluteus:
JP: Let’s face it, some people are fortunately born with a good looking behind. Nevertheless, that does not mean those who were not blessed with great genes cannot have a nicely shaped butt too.
Any muscle in your body, if worked properly, can change shape regardless of genetics—including your butt. However, those who do not have genetics on their side will have to work harder and longer to get the butt they want.
No one has to live with a flat butt if he or she is committed to putting in the necessary work. However, you need to remember that working your butt for just a few weeks may not be enough to get the results you desire.
There are no shortcuts to the body shape you would like to own. You need to spend time working your butt as you do any other body part. If you stick with it long enough, you’ll start to see results.
HO: A number of exercise videos proclaim that you can improve your behind with floor exercises such as leg lifts. Is this true or do you have to use actual weights?
JP: Well, it depends. If all you want to do is tone and sculpt the gluteus you have, then leg lifts can work. When you perform exercises without using additional weights, you will be able to achieve a small degree of growth that will make your butt look more toned. Nevertheless, if you have a flat behind and would like to make look higher and rounder, then you will need to perform exercises that require weights.
HO: What do people have to remember when exercising their gluteus muscles?
JP: I think people should keep in mind that as much as they would like to make significant changes to their butt overnight, it won't happen.
Working out your gluteus muscles is just like working any other part of your body - change comes slowly. People also have remember that their level of physical fitness and their genetics will play a role in the length of time it will take and the amount of work they’ll need to put in to achieve the look they desire.
