getting enough?
Like many people, I used to think that I did not have to worry about getting the daily recommend amount of fruits and vegetables. I take my multivitamins, I am ok. I used to think. However, throughout the years I have come to realize, simply, that is not the case..
There is no doubt…The food industry, and specifically, the supplement industry, has given us the opportunity to benefit from an array of multivitamins and nutritional products that they have produced. Nevertheless, it is not to say that we should choose synthetically and laboratory produced alternatives over natural foods.
If you think about it...
Natural foods are complex and must be very difficult to totally substitute them.
From this point of view, it is reasonable to assume that due to food's natural complexity, the professionals in charge of researching and formulating today's supplements may be missing some essential nutrients. Therefore, we, the supplements consumer, could be missing some nutritional links as well.
With this assumption put into perspective, we have to address the need for making natural foods the basics of our eating habits.
The missing link
There is an overwhelming amount of evidence that points to fruits and vegetables as being one of the missing links in today's lifestyle.
From now on, let’s eat more fruits and vegetables (especially vegetables) and use supplements as the tool that helps us to balance our natural food intake.
